Preview

The tournament heads to Bermuda for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship which is being held at Port Royal Golf club in Southampton, Bermuda.

The victor of this event will receive 500 FedEx Cup Fall points, consistent with all Fall/Autumn tournaments. They will also be awarded 22.5 Official World Golf Ranking points, contingent upon the strength of the field. Additionally, the champion will gain the perks associated with winning a PGA Tour event, such as a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour and automatic entry into next year’s Masters, PGA Championship, and The Players Championship. These tournaments as Austin Eckroat was able to achieve last week represent a tremendous opportunity for lower ranked players to solidify their playing rights, arrange their playing calendar and get into some majors. A win is life changing.

Last years winner Camilo Villegas was the comeback story of the autumn. Most likely losing his tour card, he was getting ready for stage 2 of tour school. He managed to win against all the odds, his first since the death of his 22 month old daughter Mai from brain cancer in 2020. Sadly, this season his form has been poor only making 5 cuts.
Seamus Power seems to be the bookies favourite this week tied with Maverick McNealy. I would suggest this is fuelled in part by his win 2 years ago because his form this year has been at best spotty.

Formgolfer of course, is looking for more interesting value propositions.
